2. Architects Support CSLA Initiative to Have Governor General’s Medals for Landscape Architecture

The Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC), also known as Architecture Canada, wrote to His Excellency The Right Honourable David Johnston, C.C., C.M.M., C.O.M., C.D. to “express support for the initiative proposed by our colleagues, the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects, that Governor General’s Medals for Landscape Architecture be established to accord recognition to excellence in this profession”.

The letter went on to say “Governor General’s medals and awards confer enormous prestige on their fortunate recipients, and also direct public attention to creative achievement and contributions to society”.

CSLA continues to work toward this important recognition, which was proposed at the 2009 Annual General Meeting in Toronto.
